Jacksonville Launches Show Up to Shine Attendance Campaign
Staff Report / jaxlocal.org
A city-wide attendance campaign called "Show Up to Shine" has been launched in Jacksonville, Florida to emphasize the link between student achievement and regular school attendance.
The campaign is led by a collaboration of entities including the City of Jacksonville, Duval County Public Schools, READ USA, and United Way of Northeast Florida, with the goal of promoting better attendance among children.
Superintendent Dr. Bernier highlighted the importance of transportation in improving attendance and urged the community to help Duval's bus vendors by recruiting 50 bus drivers by Labor Day.
Mayor Donna Deegan and Dr. Bernier stressed the benefits of higher attendance for the future of children and the Duval community in a video shared as part of the campaign.
